Financial Times story:

"Group of US corporate leaders ditches shareholder-first mantra "

One of America's largest business groups has dropped the “shareholder primacy” creed that has driven US capitalism for decades, urging companies to consider the environment and workers' wellbeing alongside their pursuit of profits.

it's pathetic that business leaders need to be told to be concerned about their employees and the environment.

the suspicious part about this is why now? this should have been the rule decades ago.

the strange function of our primary processes or at least the democrat primary. i have never understood it. what's odd is that liberals and democrats want the national presidential election to be determined by the popular vote count and not the electoral college vote. but this delegate and super delegate concept can subvert the popular vote of the primary process.

Biden to skip DNC meeting in San Francisco where 13 candidates are expected

Hundreds of Democratic National Committee delegates will be here next weekend for a three-day gathering that gives them a chance to meet and hear from 13 presidential contenders ...

where's the democrats' outrage about delegates and super delegates?

is this real or is this trump trolling?

Mark Halperin, who faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct and harassment in 2017, signs a book deal with publisher Regan Arts

Michael Calderone / @mlcalderone: Mark Halperin has a book deal, for which he interviewed more than 75 top Democratic strategists:
Politico: POLITICO Playbook: The White House aide on the front page of today's NYT and WaPo
Bianca Quilantan / Politico: Mark Halperin signs new book deal
Oliver Darcy / @oliverdarcy: ABC spokesperson tells me @MarkHalperin would not be welcome on the network to promote his forthcoming book. CNN spokesperson says he won't be on CNN either. Spokesperson for MSNBC, where Halperin was a “Morning Joe” regular, declined to comment. Fox hasn't responded.
Margaret Sullivan / Washington Post: Redemption sounds nice, but disgraced pundit Mark Halperin doesn't deserve it
Ed Pilkington / The Guardian: Mark Halperin attempts comeback after #MeToo accusations with Trump book
Associated Press: Mark Halperin's new book faces widespread criticism
Jackie Kucinich / @jfkucinich: Glad everyone here felt cool sitting down with someone who repeatedly harassed young, female journalists. Well done, all.
Oliver Darcy / CNN: Democrats face backlash for participating in Mark Halperin's book: 'They are enabling …

Erin Somers / Publishers Lunch: People, Etc.: Halperin and Regan Return, Together
Brendan Morrow / The Week: One of Mark Halperin's accusers says Democrats participating in his new book ‘sets the whole #MeToo movement back’
Jeff Jarvis / @jeffjarvis: No, Morning Joe, you're not having him on.
Steadman / @asteadwesley: even outside the very serious allegations against Halperin, the brand of political reporting where you take the words of DC consultants as unimpeachable gospel has never been more out of touch
B-Boy Bouiebaisse / @jbouie: in addition to how gross it is that halperin is back in respectable society, this whole project is premised on the bogus idea that trump has some kind of electoral magic that demands a special analysis to confound
Emily Alford / Jezebel: Mark Halperin Is Getting a ‘Second Chance’ Much Sooner Than Expected
Asawin Suebsaeng / @swin24: This book sounds pointless and like it will suck remarkably, painfully hard
Yashar Ali / @yashar: 1. Having a high-profile position in the media, getting a book deal etc, is a privilege, not a right. Mark Halperin not only sexually harassed women (something he has acknowledged), he has been credibly accused of assaulting multiple women.
Susan Crabtree / @susancrabtree: Totally agree - 100 percent. What is it about trying to rehabilitate someone like this - where is the rehabilitation for the women he ran out of journalism?
Emily Kuhn / @emkuhn: Here is that October 2017 report by @oliverdarcy if anyone needs a refresher:
Rebecca Klar / The Hill: Mark Halperin inks book deal
Max Fisher / @max_fisher: What an amazing illustration of how institutions that purportedly oppose misogyny and sexual harassment will happily excuse and therefore abet those things when they see even the slightest, most nominal gain in it for themselves.
Erik Loomis / @erikloomis: Charlie Rose is outraged
Lindsey Barrett / @lam_barrett: the sexual harasser whose piercing political insights include popping his head out from the sex pest shed every once in a while to point out that women politicians should be less shrill? cool!
Danny Gold / @dgisserious: obviously the sexual harassment is the number one story, but a distant, distant second is that we don't need any more DC gossip books. or DC gossip reporting. potentially ever, definitely for a few years. ...
Dennis Johnson / @mobylives: Coming from the publisher who brought you IF I DID IT by O.J. Simpson. She must have outbid Carolyn Reidy's S&S ... ...
Karen Finney / @finneyk: Let's use the correct language - he's not “disgraced” he's a predator and has not apologized for sexually assaulting and harassing women. Shame @JudithRegan. “Disgraced Pundit Mark Halperin Signs Deal to Publish New Political Book” ...

Nikki Schwab / New York Post: Mark Halperin accusers blast new book deal: 'Men like him don't change'
@thedailybeast: Eleanor McManus said the deal comes before an apology to Mark Halperin's alleged victims: “Giving him a book once again puts him in a position of authority and that is a slap in the face to all the women that he has victimized” ...
@redsaid: I want to know why any of these Dem strategists thought helping to rehab the career of a serial assaulter of women was a worthwhile endeavor.
Scott Tobias / @scott_tobias: It would appear that this particular balloon was inflated with lead.
Karen Finney / @finneyk: Amen! So disappointing but not surprising in this town. And it wasn't just journalists, young female press staffers (yes I speak from personal experience) were harassed too.
Armando / @armandodkos: Lol Mika hasn't given up yet!
Emily Miller / @emilymiller: Mark Halperin victim @eleanorsmcmanus -> “He leveraged his position as a prominent journalist to prey on women ... Giving him a book once again puts him in a position of authority and that is a slap in the face to all the women that he has victimized.” More here:
Erin Overbey / @erinoverbey: What's fascinating about this is that, 2 yrs out from #MeToo, some men seem to feel that simply having their conduct called out—that is, having any alleged harassment, misconduct, etc, merely recognized & made public—is punishment enough. That is their version of accountability.
