Sunny and warmish with a decent breeze at times. It's fine in the shade.

This morning, I heard the Eastern Wood Pee-wee sing near our home for a short time. Four out of the last five mornings, I have heard the EAWP.

10:30 a.m.

Sunny, summer morning. Light breeze. Bright blue clear sky.

Our long, abnormally cool, wet weather pattern has ended. No long stretch of 90-degrees is forecast, thankfully. 80s and 60s.

The last time that we received rain in West Toledo was last Thursday. This might be the longest stretch of dry weather that we have experienced in many weeks or a few months. I should have had a rain gauge.

"The Office will move from Netflix to NBC's new streaming service in 2021; a source says Netflix was willing to pay up to $90M/year, but NBC offered $100M"

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/25/nbc-to-remove-the-office-from-netflix.html

The shows that I watch on Netflix are mostly Netflix originals. I cannot think of a network TV series that I watch on Netflix. Over the past few years, I've noticed network TV shows coming and going on Netflix.

Soon or even now, so many different streaming services will exist that subscribing to even some of them might cost more than having cable or satellite TV. In 5 to 10 years, the pendulum might swing back to cable TV, if it still exists.

Personally, I would choose to watch less TV. I did not watch TV yesterday. Lately, I've been re-watching, again, the Peaky Blinders series on Netflix. Before that, I watched the most recent season of Bad Blood, which is also a Netflix series. Before that, I finished rewatching, yet again, House of Cards, except for the lame last season. Earlier this year, I rewatched Narcos. I tend to watch only a few shows.

When I watch TV, I prefer to watch YouTube videos via the YouTube channel on our Roku-based TV. We do not subscribe to YouTube TV, whatever that is. The YouTube how-to, art, and craft shows that we watch will occasionally show short commercials that we can usually skip after a few seconds.

In the basement while exercising on our elliptical machine, I watch DVDs of movies and TV shows on a small, old-style, cube TV that can only do one thing, which is play DVDs.

I continue to watch less TV each year. TV watching is probably the biggest waste of life.

About the only sports that I watch is the Cleveland Browns, along with some other NFL games throughout the season and playoffs, The Masters golf tournament, and maybe one other golf tourney.

If another Cleveland sports team or a Detroit sports team reaches the playoffs or finals, then I'll watch, provided that the games air on over-the-air TV. We rarely have a need for the over-the-air indoor antenna, except for me watching NFL games. I don't watch college football on TV. I like attending college football games.

With the Browns playing better last season and making what appears to be good moves during the current off-season, the Browns have become somewhat of a fashionable team in the NFL. That means this season, the Browns will play more games that will air only on cable TV.

Many times, I have trouble pulling in our local CBS station with our indoor antenna to watch the Browns. It's annoying to keep adjusting the antenna. Maybe I should try a different antenna. I don't know why local TV stations are so difficult to watch over-the-air. Whatever.

This season, I might subscribe to Sling TV if it provides access to Browns games that air on network TV, such as CBS, NBC, and Fox, which cover the regular season. That way, I would at least eliminate the indoor antenna hassle for games broadcast over network TV. But I would also want the subscription to be month-to-month, since I would only need the subscription for four to five months.

If I cannot watch all Browns games that air over network TV on Sling TV, then I won't bother with it. For the Monday night ESPN games and the Thursday night NFL network games that the Browns will play, I will either need to visit a bar or stick with listening to the games over the radio.

For me, Sling TV is mainly about being able to watch the Sunday afternoon games clearly and without the hassle of an antenna.

"Bob Ley retires after 40 years as ESPN anchor"

https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/27058914/bob-ley-retires-40-years-espn-anchor

Bob Ley, after a 40-year career at ESPN, announced his retirement from the network Wednesday.

Ley, who had taken a leave of absence in October, said in a statement that he will be retiring at the end of this month. He was ESPN's longest-tenured anchor.

"To be clear, this is entirely my decision. I enjoy the best of health, and the many blessings of friends and family, and it is in that context that I'm making this change," he said.

Ley, 64, thanked ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro and the network's senior leadership team "for their understanding and patience over the past months."

"In September, I signed off my last show saying, 'I'll catch you on the flip side.' Now it's time to take that vinyl off the turntable (ask your folks), flip it over, and drop the needle on the B-side. There are always great cuts, and hidden gems on the B-side.

"Thank you for a great run."

That's impressive. Time flies by way too fast.

Ley joined ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor on Sept. 9, 1979 -- the third day of the network's operation. In 1980, he hosted the first NCAA selection show and live broadcast of the NFL draft and continued in that role for the next nine years.

He was the host of Outside The Lines, ESPN's investigative news program, since the show launched in May 1990 and also hosted ESPN's weekly E:60 show on Sunday mornings, leading the coverage of several important stories. As host of OTL, Ley was a leader in reporting on concussions and CTE and the NFL's handling of domestic violence cases.

I remember watching Bob on ESPN back in the 1980s and 1990s. I watched some ESPN in the aught years, but much less, and then in the late aughts, we cancelled full cable. I've been unfamiliar with ESPN over the past 10-plus years.

Hilarious. None of this is truly important, but it's good moronic, spectacle entertainment.

President Donald Trump accused US women's World Cup soccer star Megan Rapinoe of "disrespect" Wednesday after she swore not to visit his White House.

In the same series of tweets, Trump announced he was inviting the US women's team to the White House and said "I am a big fan."

Rapinoe, however, "should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!" he wrote.

The president's outburst followed the broadcast of a video clip in which Rapinoe dismisses the idea of visiting the White House.

Such events are a longtime tradition for successful sports teams and athletes but have run into a political minefield during the controversy-filled Trump presidency.

"I'm not going to the fucking White House," the US co-captain exclaimed in the clip on Eight by Eight, a football magazine. "No. I'm not going to the White House."
