Mail Online's head of SEO says its search traffic from Google fell by half after an algorithm change on June 3, and the drop was worse in the UK than in the US

comment attached to the mediagazer link:

Emily Bell / @emilybell: Hey everybody at #newsgeist enjoying the conversations about the future of journalism, can somebody unconference why Google/FB etc STILL don't practice any transparency around these changes or their effects?

Huh? Emily needs to redirect questioning and blame to the MEDIA and not big tech. Google and Facebook do not owe the media anything. Building businesses around referral traffic is moronic. It's a self-inflicted wound.

Here's a more sensible observation:

@mediaguido: Gaming algorithms, doing SEO voodoo, or tweaking Facebook for viral traffic will not work in the long term. At the end of the day “Content is King”, © Bill Gates.

And another:

Mathew Ingram / @mathewi: If the algorithm update was designed to filter out low-quality sources of information then it's no surprise it

text that existed on my info page, but i removed tonight.

I've created many other websites for myself. Here are a few that I use as necessary. I have accessed my weather website multiple times a day, nearly every day, since I created it in the summer of 2013.
