WTOL meteorologist Ryan Wichman has posted images of the algae bloom that formed on the Maumee River in downtown Toledo last week and has grown since.

My rain gauge measured 1.40 inches of rainfall on Tue, Sep 19, 2017. Then our six-day stretch of 90-plus degree weather began on Thu, Sep 21. We have experienced light winds or even calm winds at times over the past week. Definitely the unseasonably hot conditions have contributed to the bloom forming downtown.

Ryan also posted an image from this past weekend of the algae bloom, surrounding West Sister Island, which is located seven to nine miles from the Ohio shoreline in western Lake Erie, out from Magee Marsh Wildlife Area.
