Starting with rainfall amounts that I recorded in April.


0.28 of rainfall from sun Eve into Monday April 2 - 3


i emptied rain gauge at lunch time today, apr 6, 2017. it recroded 0.40 inches of rainfall fell yest and overnight


Wed, Apr 19

Around 5:00 to 5:20 p.m. give or take, we experienced a heavy thundershower. Rain intensity varied from heavy to very heavy, maybe torrential at times. 0.65 inches of rain fell.


Thu, Apr 20

0.30 inches of rain fell between mid-evening, Wed, Apr 19 and around daybreak Thu morning, Apr 20. Most of the rain, however, fell from the Thursday morning moderate to heavy thundershower that occurred around sunrise.

0.78 inches of rain fell from approximately 7:05 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. that evening from a very heavy thundershower that also produced torrential rainfall at times.


Sat - Mon, Apr 29 - May 1

1.03 inches of rain fell between Saturday morning and Monday morning.


Tue, May 2

0.10 inches of rain fell early Tuesday morning. Some of that rain may have fallen late Monday evening too.


Toledo Weather - Fri, May 5, 2017
Total rainfall for today equaled 0.87 inches.
Yesterday's rainfall totaled 1.55 inches.
My rain gauge recorded 2.42 inches of rain that fell from approximately 4:00 a.m., Thu, May 4 to approximately 7:00 p.m., Fri, May 5.


it got dry-ish in the middle part of may, but it seems odd that i have no rainfall recordings at home from may 6 through may 17. will consult tol data.

toledo express airport:

that's it for measurable rainfall, during that 12-day stretch. two other days recorded a trace.

i checked my moleskine notebook. now i remember thu, may 11 because it was one of the best days around our home this month for migrating bird activity. it rained during the early morning hours before daybreak. in my notebook, i recorded the following: 0.25 inches of rainfall fell after midnight.

we'll go with the 0.25 inches number instead of tol's number. i'll compare to tol's data later.


Wed, May 24, 2017 - morning - emptied my rain gauge. It contained 0.80 inches of rainfall that occurred while we were away between Thursday afternoon, May 18 and Monday night, May 22.


May 25
This morning, I emptied our rain gauge. I didn't empty late last night. The gauge measured another 0.39 inches of rainfall that occurred between 2:00 p.m. yesterday and daybreak this morning with most that rain, I think, falling lightly off and on during the late afternoon and evening hours yesterday. Anyway, our 24-hour rainfall total equaled 1.21 inches.


sat, may 27, 2017, we received 0.20 inches of rainfall between midnight and 4:00 a.m.


sun, may 28, 2017, my rain gauge recorded 0.13 inches of late afternoon and early evening thundershower rainfall.


mon, may 29 - 0.03 inches


sun, jun 4, 2017 - 0.13 inches of rainfall occurred with multiple morning thundershowers shortly after daybreak.


dry stretch. comfy cool weather through june 9.

got warm, upper 80s to the mid 90s from jun 10 through june 17 except for one or two days. record hi temp of 96 degrees at tol on tue, jun 13. for the first four days or so, the humidity was low too with the heat. our front lawn in mid june looks more like late july or early august.

0.10 inches of rainfall on sunday, june 18.

will double-check TOL because we were gone for a few days, visiting family.


rainfall for monday, june 19. welcomed. totaled 0.19 inches.


rainfall for tue, jun 20: 0.14 inches.


rainfall for thu, jun 22: 0.13 inches.


rainfall for fri, jun 23: We received 0.53 inches of rainfall this morning. I emptied the rain gauge at 11:35 a.m. we might receive more rain this afternoon.


jun 26 : tol recorded 0.08 inches of rainfall, but we received nothing.


thu, jun 29 - tol recorded 0.09. inches of rainfall. i don't think that it rained at our home.


fri, jun 30 - my gauge recorded a total of 1.65 inches for the day with rain occurring before sunrise and then again in the afternoon and evening.

TOL, however, recorded 2.13 inches for the day.

jul 7 : 0.10 inches of rainfall fell around sunrise. areas to the north and south, nearby, received more rainfall in the morning and much more rainfall around midday and in the afternoon and evening. we got lucky.


jul 10 : 0.60 inches thus far as of 4:00 p.m. more is possible later. well, we didn't receive any more rain on this day.


wed, jul 12 : 0.10 inches of rainfall fell around sunrise this morning from a thundershower. more rain is expected later today.

no more rain fell for us.


thu, jul 13 : 0.16 inches of rainfall fell before daybreak.

other areas not far away received much more rainfall. flooding rainfall on their saturated ground that has received more rain than west toledo over the past couple weeks. multiple flood warnings have been issued in northwest ohio.


wed, jul 19 : 0.17 inches of rainfall fell in the late afternoon from a couple thundershowers.


sat, jul 22 : 0.25 inches before sunrise.


Aug 4

we are definitely in a dry period.

this morning, my rain gauge showed only 0.02 inches of rain had fallen from last last evening to this morning.

Monroe County, Wood County, and parts of Lucas County have received much more rainfall over the past 30 days than we have in West Toledo.


Aug 11

0.33 inches of rain fell for the day. Most fell before sunrise. Some additional rain fell in the evening.


Aug 16

1.27 inches of rainfall from heavy rain at mid afternoon. we had a brief rain shower before sunrise that produced only a trace.


Aug 19

0.10 inches of rain fell in the early morning.


Aug 22

0.03 of rainfall


Aug 28

0.03 inches of rainfall.


Aug 29

heavy rain fell this afternoon for about 20 to 25 minutes.

0.80 inches of total rain fell today, Aug 29.


Sep 3 - around .10 inches of rain fell while i was away a few days from Aug 30 to Sep 3.


Sep 4

1.17 inches from a strong evening thunderstorm.


Sep 7

0.26 inches from a heavy rainshower in the afternoon.


Sep 18

0.32 inches.


Sep 19

1.40 inches.

Wed, Oct 11 - 0.68 inches, mainly before daybreak.


Thu, Oct 12 - 0.10 inches of light rain and drizzle.


Mon - Tue Oct 23-24 0.83 in rain fell mainly on Mon.


We went to London for holiday. Car service picked us up at home at 2pm on Wed, Oct 25, and we got dropped off at home at 5:30 pm on Thu, Nov 2.

During our time away, my rain gauge recorded 1.0 inches of rainfall. I assume that some might have evaporated, although temps were below normal for most of the time that we were gone.


Sun, Nov 6 - 2.16 inches of rain fell. Other nearby areas to the south and east received much more. Severe thunderstorms and even a few tornadoes rumbled through northwest and north central Ohio. Temps were in the mid to upper 60s in the early afternoon.

Sun, Nov 12 - 0.15 inches of precip, mainly light rain and drizzle but also a little sleet with temps in the low the mid 30s in the morning.


Tue, Nov 14 - 0.30 inches of rainfall


Late Fri night, Nov 17 through early Sat eve, Nov 18, 1.68 inches of rain fell. Express and Executive airports reported light snow, briefly, between 8pm and 10pm on Sat, Nov 18. Temps were in the mid-30s.


Thu, Nov 30 : 0.14 inches of rainfall occurred.
